A new book by a veteran Pensacola attorney lays the groundwork for real estate professionals eager to avoid conflicts and provide their clients with worry-free transactions.
“Navigating the Maze: A Real Estate Broker’s Guide to Avoiding Claims” was written by Stephen R. Moorhead, a lawyer specializing in real estate transactions for more than 30 years.
The book, written in layman’s terms, explains ramifications of court cases, requirements of mandated disclosures, and details of the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA). It includes valuable tips for handling transactions without risking liability or inadvertently violating the complex regulations governing real estate sales.
Moorhead, a partner in the Pensacola firm of McDonald Fleming Moorhead, is a graduate of Cumberland School of Law at Samford University and Auburn University. He is active with Pensacola Habitat for Humanity and Home Builders Association of West Florida, where he serves as general counsel to the board of directors. He also serves as director for the Greater Pensacola Chamber of Commerce.
"Steve Moorhead's book Navigating the Maze is a must read by anyone in the real estate industry, whether you are a veteran or are just getting started. This book will open your eyes to the risk inherent in representing others as a real agent and he offers very real strategy and the practical steps to protect your real estate practice. I recommend all brokers give this manual to their agents on day one." - Keith Furrow
